The Weather Channel recently published an article outlining nine major events that the rising class of 2018 is too young to remember. What nerve. Here are five more events this year's college freshmen were born too late to recall. You're going to feel so old!

1. Harry S. Truman's Inauguration

Who can forget where they were the day that Harry S. Truman was sworn-in as the country's thirty-third president? Just hours after his predecessor dropped dead at his home in Georgia, Truman ascended to the most powerful position in the world. His presidency oversaw the end of World War II, the integration of the military and Federal government, and the beginning of the Korean War. This year's college frosh class is just too young to remember the good ol' days.

2. The Knickerbocker Blizzard of 1922

Today's kids are just too doggone young to remember the incredible Knickerbocker Blizzard of 1922. The snowstorm dropped more than three feet of snow in some spots and produce drifts almost two stories tall. The weight of the snow caused Washington D.C.'s Knickerbocker Theater to collapse, killing nearly a hundred people. The class of 2018 doesn't remember this major American event, the slackers!

3. The Life and Death of Saul Bonnell

Today's 18-year-olds are so disinterested in the world outside of their smartphones that they didn't pay attention to the life and death of Saul Bonnell (1871-1973), the Unionist who represented British Columbia's Kootenay East riding during the 13th Canadian Parliament. Even I remember him!

4. The Founding of Huitzilopochco

One sign that we've failed as a society is that our children can't even remember basic things we all experienced, such as the founding of the Aztec city-state of Huitzilopochco sometime in the 1400s. Strike up a conversation with one of today's youth about this historic moment and they'll look at you funny and go back to "twerking" or whatever up-and-coming freshmen do with their free time.

5. The Conscious Uncoupling of Gondwanaland 184 Million Years Ago

How today's college freshmen can forget that time when Gondwanaland split up to produce two smaller continents just 184 million years ago escapes this author. The major geologic event was one of the most formative occurrences in world history, and it's shocking that kids today just don't remember it.
