CBS News continued its tortured and factually-adjacent track record of reporting on tornadoes today, tweeting out a picture of an ominous lowering in an Oklahoma thunderstorm with the overblown caption “massive tornado takes form.” They soon corrected the tweet with one just as dubious.

The New York Post wrote an article the other day exclaiming that this summer is one of the mildest summers on record in New York City. Sure it is! If we extend the meaning of "on the record" to include that time when the earth was covered in lava.

CBS News published an article this afternoon reporting on a super rare "sideways tornado" spotted in Maryland. The only problem is that there is no such thing as a sideways tornado, and apparently CBS has no meteorologists (or elementary school graduates) on its payroll to fact check this sideways article.

What do you do when you're a major news organization that owns the Weather Channel and your social media editors use an old weather map to warn the wrong people that severe storms packing destructive winds and a gustnado are on their way to screw things up? Nothing, apparently.
